Pedro A. Noguera, Ph.D Presentation
Sierra Health Foundation and the UC Davis School of Education invite you to join us on May 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. to hear Pedro Noguera, Ph.D., speak on "Developing Capacity: The Role of School and Communities in Providing Support to All Students."
Noguera is a professor in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development at New York University. He also is the executive director of the Metropolitan Center for Urban Education and the co-director of the Institute for the Study of Globalization and Education in Metropolitan Settings.
As an urban sociologist, Noguera's scholarship and research focuses on the ways in which schools are influenced by social and economic conditions in the urban environment. He has served as an advisor and has engaged in collaborative research with several large urban school districts throughout the United States. He also has done research on issues related to education and economic and social development in countries throughout the world.
